Butter Caramel Syrup

Many of you requested the recipe for Ann's fabulous Caramel Syrup. So, here it is...

Butter Caramel Syrup

1 C. buttermilk
½ cube butter
1 C. white sugar
1 C. brown sugar
4 Tbls. Karo Syrup
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbls. Vanilla

Mix all ingredients except the vanilla in a large cooking pan.(Be sure the pan is large because the soda makes the syrup bubble and it grows more than 5 times its size.) Boil about 5 minutes then add the vanilla. Serve on waffles,French toast or pancakes. Top with fruit (bananas or apples)and pecans.

1st Annual Apple Fest 2008

A HUGE "THANK YOU" to all those who attended the 1st Annual Apple Fest! We had such a great turnout and had a lot of fun. We just want to express our appreciation to all those who participated in the Harvest 5k walk/run. We had close to 100 participants and raised close to $2,000, which will be donated to Primary Children's Medical Center Foundation in Kate's name. Thank you for all the generous donations. We would especially like to thank our fabulous volunteers. Without You none of this would have been possible.

Update....

Two more days to go and we are really looking forward to seeing you!!

Okay, so we have made another change for the 5k. Because of transportation issues, we would like ALL participants to be at Apple Creek Farms as close to 8:00 am as possible. This is where you will check-in and receive your number. Once you are registered and checked in, we will start shuttling you to the starting line. Or, if you can have someone drop you off at the starting line, this would help. There's really not a place for parking at the starting line.

Directions to Apple Creek Farm
Apple Creek Farms is located off the South Fillmore Exit #163. Off the exit, turn East and follow Highway 99 until your reach 300 West 500 South. There will be signs....you can't miss it. We look forward to seeing you bright and EARLY (8:00 am)!!!

PuMpKiN PaTcH PiCtUrEs INFO....

As mentioned below, PuMpKiN PaTcH pictures will be taken of the kids or the whole family. Please visit Kirstin Roper Photography for more details: http://www.kirstinroperphotography.blogspot.com/.

It's less than a week until Apple Fest and we are getting excited. There are a few items that I wanted to add. First, I just wanted to mention that this is a FUN walk/run. There won't be any prizes for the winners....just bragging rights :) We've changed the course a little bit. Instead of starting up Canyon Road, we are going to start and end at Apple Creek Farm. If you haven't pre-registered, please arrive by 8:00 am. If you have already sent in your registration, please arrive by 8:30.

The breakfast will start around 9:30. The charge for the breakfast will be $3.00 (12 and under FREE). For those participating in the 5k, the breakfast is included.

Apple pressing will begin at 11:00 am. Also, there will be an apple dipping bar, dried apple demonstrations, dutch oven apple crisp tasting and fun activities for the kids throughout the day. Not to mention hay wagon rides.

I've been checking the weather and it should be a clear, beautiful 80 degrees for most of the afternoon. If you are planning to stay for dinner and dancing, come prepared with some warm attire.

We look forward to seeing you in a few days.

Harvest 5k Fun Walk/Run
In memory of Kate Rosenvall
The Harvest 5k is a memorial walk/run for our sweet daughter, granddaughter, niece, angel and friend.....Kate Rosenvall. Kate was born with several birth defects and fought a valiant fight for 21 months. She was born on July 15, 2006 and received her angel wings on March 25, 2008. She spent over 7 months at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT where we called this her "2nd home." Kate was loved by all who cared for her and we are so grateful for this wonderful facility. Spending so much time at the hospital, we realized just how much donations are needed and appreciated. All proceeds for the Harvest 5k will be donated to the Primary Children's Medical Center Foundation in Kate's name. Below is the information for the walk/run. All ages and fitness levels are welcome.
